At Rectory Farm in the heart of Yorkshire, Edward Berry took over his family’s dairy and sheep farm at just 23. In partnership with Charlotte, his partner and now co-founder, they created the Rectory Farm Milk Shack – a direct-to-consumer milk and milkshake vending business, bringing freshly pasteurised farm milk straight to their local community.
To ensure safety and top product quality, the couple invested in a Plevnik Pasteurizer P 100 ELwith Controller MC500 and set up a small-scale dairy processing unit on the farm. With the support of dairy expert Charles Wait – fondly called their “Dairy Godfather” – they began producing pasteurised whole milk and flavoured milkshakes sold via self-service vending machines.
Edward’s cows graze freely in the surrounding Yorkshire fields during the warmer months, and their milk reflects the care, freshness, and quality of their environment. The Plevnik pasteurizer plays a key role in this, allowing Charlotte and Edward to process their own milk efficiently, safely, and independently.
The Milk Shack is just the beginning – with the new dairy unit in place, they plan to expand into other artisan dairy products in the future, continuing to add value to their milk and farm story.
