Coop Vlára Nemšová, Slovakia

Coop Vlára has been breeding cattle, broilers, and sheep for decades. 650 sheep are kept on the farm Horné Sŕnie. Until 2015, they sold most of their sheep’s milk production to a nearby dairy. They processed only a small part of the milk on a mountain hut on pastures and sold it there directly.

In 2014, they decided to build their own small dairy that could process all the sheep’s milk. The dairy was built next to the milking parlor so that no milk transport was needed. For several years, they milked sheep only in the summer. The introduction of synchronization of sheep flour, milking, and milk processing throughout the year, including winter, has proved to be a good step. Equally important and correct was the decision that all the main milk processing facilities were from Plevnik – Complete dairy solution. At present, they process 500 – 700 liters of sheep’s milk daily. The products are transported to supermarkets and smaller stores. In this way thay can earn much more than by selling raw milk.
