Flis farm, Slovenia

The Flis farm has a long tradition that is passed down from generation to generation. The farm is located in a traditional hop area in Šempeter, in the Savinja Valley. Around 1990, they switched from hop growing to cattle breeding and milk production. The farm was modernized with a cow milking robot, and the milk was sold to a dairy. They soon had the idea of how to add more value to milk, so they successfully started processing milk.

The dairy uses Plevnik’s devices: cheese kettle SKH 650 EW Professional with a lifting device, mini cheese kettles  SKM 150 and SKM 100 and draining cheese table SOM 159. They use also one-part perforated moulds Anelli and manual cheese harps.

About the cooperation with the company Plevnik they say:
“We are very satisfied with the Plevnik devices. We have great products and new ideas because of the excellent equipment, which we use to our advantage. We have good relations with Plevnik employees in the field of sales and service.”

Their homemade dairy products have a full and rich taste and have received for several years in a row numerous gold awards at the exhibition Specialities of Slovene farms for grilled cheese, home-made sweet cottage cheese, and fruit yogurt in the type of Greek yogurt. In 2020, they won the most prestigious Quality Label award, which is given only to those who have received a gold award for a particular product for 3 years in a row.

Dairy products are sold in various retail chains, schools, and kindergartens. They lost a lot of revenue because of the pandemic in 2020, but they managed to make up for it with internet sales and home deliveries.
